Jason Parisi
As one of Spruce Manor’s first residents, Jason struggled with anger issues and communication barriers due to his deafness and low vision. But with the help of Service Coordinator Nancy Harper and the support of VOA Illinois staff and neighbors, Jason was able to overcome his challenges and find his happy place at Spruce Manor. Jason even married fellow Spruce Manor resident, Nicole! The residents all celebrated together.
Despite facing a recent health crisis and further deterioration of his vision, Jason remains a source of joy and inspiration to his community. His love for holiday decor and his unique talent for brightening up the building with his decorating skills are a testament to his resilience and determination. His story shows that with the right support and encouragement, individuals with disabilities can achieve remarkable personal growth and independence.
At VOA Illinois, our mission is to empower individuals to live their lives with dignity and independence, and the story of Jason Parisi exemplifies this mission. The dedication of our staff to nurturing and promoting independence played a vital role in Jason’s success. By working together and providing individualized support, we were able to help Jason overcome his challenges and find his happy place at VOA. With your support, we can continue to empower individuals with disabilities to live their lives to the fullest and achieve their dreams.
